Almost there!
Visions is upon us and I have officially been moved over to the development team. I have been working with Melissa, Ally and Ek to get things done for the events that are on the day of the event. Melissa and I worked to find a location to do the after party and then when we locked down Growlers we went downtown to have a meeting with the manager and check out the space again. The meeting went really well and we were excited that he was okay with all of the ideas we had planned. We presented to the class and have decided to do decoration in a rustic type wedding vibe. We think this goes well with the space and will compliment our after party well. Ally helped us to get a in touch with the band Pretend Surprise and this past weekend they confirmed that they would play at the after party. This is great news as April is right upon us and we need to start locking down everything so we are not frantic at the end of it. I am also in charge of planning the extra bake sale we have decided to add onto the semester. This will help us bring in extra cash and allow us to have more wiggle room in terms of funds.

We did it!
Well okay so April is still very far away and we have a ton of work left to do but you have to celebrate the small triumphs along the way right? RIGHT! Well on behalf of Programming and Traffic department we are very happy that programming is finally done. It feels as if it would be a never ending process but we made it, and just in time for spring break I might add! It was our last day of programming and all the films were picked! It was not even the longest day we have had to date! Making all of our decisions has made us all so happy because it is finally starting to feel like there will be actually something happening on April 17th, instead of just the idea of Visions which is kinda what the last few months have felt like. In order to prepare for our last class I made sure to have all of the contact info for the final filmmakers so we could price everything accordingly. Once Tuesday was done I jumped right over to Development and have been helping Melissa and Ally with anything they need for the Mardi Gras party along with the After party. I went with them both downtown on Friday to look for after party locations and reach out to sponsors.

Almost there... well kinda...
It feels like we are almost there because of the fact that we are doing the last round of films this week and we are also picking the final papers as well as the awards for those papers. I worked on the reports for both the papers for this week as well as the films to make sure that the class discussion could run smoothly. This week felt like a lot of work because we are doing another night of both films and papers, and it takes a lot out of the entire class to read so much and watch all the films. However I watched the last round of films and read every paper to make sure that I could contribute to class discussion. This week I also helped Jonathan by making sure we had all of the information we needed for the papers. In class as we decided on papers we looked up flights and so it was important to make sure we had their current addresses and therefor we could make sure we had the funds to fly them out. For films we decided it was time to discuss the UNCW films so we also put those into the mix this week.

Are we there yet?
This past week of 2/1-2/7 I have been very busy with Visions stuff. We are getting down to the last set of films and are starting to narrow down what we want. I have had to do a number of reports for the second round of films as well as watch the films myself. It has been tiring to keep up with all that visions has going on but I just keep thinking of the payout. I have also been sending out last minute emails to Invitationals that never responded and am trying to get a response so they can be part of the last round of films. Jonathan and I have heard back from a few which is good because we want more invitationals since people didn't seem to respond as frequently this year as compared to last. We are working though and doing a final push to make sure that we have an excellent selection of films so the Visions 5 is the best one yet.

Visions Continues!!
Well we are just trudging along trying to get to that April 17th date! It has pretty much been sheer craziness from the very first class. This week Jonathan and I worked to get in the las minute invitationals that will make our programming that much better. I sent out emails to all of the invitationals that had yet to submit and most we actually responsive so we got in about 4 more invitationals than we had at the start of the week. I also did the reports for Shannon on Monday night in order to prepare for our second round of programming on Tuesday. After this week it will just be about programming and we will no longer have to reach out to Invitationals or work on film freeway. This coming week we are programming our 3rd and final round of films as well as programming the papers, for which we now have the entire papers.

Week 2
Another week of madness! I am counting the days until April 17th! Anyway this week was a lot of work because we have finally started programming. I made spreadsheets for Shannon that had all of the information from the abstract responses and that helped her to be able to see how everyone scored the abstracts and call on people that weren't speaking but scored the abstracted really high or low. I also finished the binder that Shannon wanted with all of the bios and students ids so she can see what school they are from and easily be able to identify if flying them out there or possibly programming their work would be worthwhile in terms of having diverse schools. Other than that I have had to watch and read all of the abstracts and films in order to prepare for the programming we will be doing this coming Tuesday. I also had our departmental meeting in which we all got caught up on what the entire department was doing. This is always nice because people can offer their assistance if they see any one from the department sinking.
Overall hours for the week
Scorring Abstracts anf films: 2 1/2 hours
Creating Spreadsheets: 2 hours
Printing papers for Binder: 2 hours

Visions is back!!!
Welp I know that Visions is back and in full swing due to the fact that I have so much work I am just now getting to my blog...and its only the first week!
But its will all be worth it April 17th! This past week has been really crazy because the programming department has a lot to do and it feels like only a short amount of time to do it in. I met with Jonathan at the beginning of the week and we discussed the reports that need to get started for both films and abstracts. Then in the middle of the week I met with Shannon and we talked all about the follow up emails for invitationals, reports for films and abstracts, as well as many other programming details. I ended up having a lot of work to do over the weekend to prepare for our first round of abstract programming that will be taking place today. To prepare for this I made a binder for Shannon with the entry forms for the students who submitted abstracts, their student ids, and their bios. This was she can have all their information readily available during programming.
